October Wine of the Month…Rose?

by Lauren on October 24, 2012

Fall is here, and usually that means cooler weather, coats, boots, and a lot more red wine. But that doesn’t always have to be the case. I may surprise you with my wine choice for October. This month I’m featuring Martinez Lacuesta Rose Rioja 2011. Most people think Rose can only be consumed during the Spring and Summer…but who says you can’t have it all year round. Rose is one of those great wines that go well with everything and can be enjoyed any time of year. Same goes for Champagne.

The rose that I’m picking for this month is one of my absolute favorites, is so inexpensive, and definitely a wine I’ve been consuming way too much of. Is that possible? Nahh

Martinez Lacuesta Rose Rioja 2011 is one of those great finds. It’s not only delicious, but well balanced, and cheap! The Rose itself is a beautiful shade of dark pink. On the palate you will get a mouthful of sun-kissed fruit. Strawberries, and curshed cherries with a nice minerality streak to keep it crisp and dry. The wine has loads of fruit and richness but finishes clean and light. It pairs well with all kinds of salads and fresh seafood. But I like to enjoy it on it’s own. This is by far one of my favorite wines in general to consume.
