Chipotle Hummus with a Twist of Orange

by Lauren on September 14, 2011

I’ve been staring at this can of Chipotles in my pantry for about 2 years not having a clue what to do with them. I’ve been in the mood to make hummus so I decided to make Spicy Chipotle Hummus. And it was delicious!!

Here we go…

Four Ingredients: 1 Can Chickpeas, 1 Small Can of Chipotles, 1 Medium Orange, Ahuacatlan Avocado Oil with Garlic.

I show the Chipotle Avocado Oil in the picture, but after tasting the hummus with the chipotles I felt it had enough Chipotle flavor and decided to use the Avocado Oil infused with Garlic instead.

Add the chickpeas, chipotles, and the juice of one orange to a food processor and process with the Avocado Oil until smooth and creamy. Add salt to taste.

The orange juice added a sweet and fresh component to the spicy hummus that I really enjoyed. With out it, the hummus was good, but I wanted to balance it out a bit so I felt the orange juice really did that.

This is delicious with fresh veggies, chips, or even spread on whole wheat bread with cucumber slices. I could eat it with a spoon. It was spicy, creamy, and so satisfying.

Such an awesome-sounding flavor combination. I’d never have thought of it – and it looks beautiful to boot.

Hmm…interesting idea. I just made hummus yesterday and finally used tahini – never added that before and man, what a difference! It was great! I love the color of yours though!
