My Month Long Vacation…Chock Full of Pictures!

by Lauren on May 24, 2011

Well, it’s obvious…I took a break. I took a month long hiatus from blogging, and it was much much needed. I’ve been travelling, enjoying life, and to be honest…just trying to find myself. As you know a lot as has changed in my life…and if you don’t know read this post. So I’m learning and growing, and trying to live the best life I know.

During my month hiatus I went to San Diego for Easter to visit my brother and soon to be sister in law.

We visited the restaurant where they will be having their rehearsal dinner, and I was able to interview the chef (that post coming soon).

We took some great walks, saw some beautiful flowers, and dined at some delicious restaurants.

I also took a trip to Los Angeles one week later. It was a much needed trip for my soul and to find what I am passionate about again.

I loved seeing my friends, strolling around the Farmers Markets, celebrating birthdays in Hollywood (Hollywood Style), meeting new friends, relaxing on the beach, and just taking in every wonderful moment. We did it all…Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Manhattan Beach, Malibu, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Burbank, Culver City, Redondo Beach, AND Hermosa Beach. It was definitely a weekend I won’t forget.

Last but not least I celebrated my 27th birthday. To be honest I was not really excited for some reason because I feel by 27 I should have my life together, and I am so far from that. But at the same time I know I still have plenty of time, and just need to not worry about everything. So to put me more in ‘the birthday mood’ my friends threw me a fabulous party, and I enjoyed a weekend of celebrations.

An added bonus was a dinner at L’Auberge Chez François in Great Falls, MD. My work put on an Austrian Dinner there, and I have to say it was one of the best dinners I’ve had there. Jacques Haeringer, the owner and head chef, and Klaus Wittauer of KW Selection, the wine importer, really pulled out all the stops for this one. The food and wine pairings were spot on, and each and every dish was better than the last. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so these are pictures from my phone, and they just don’t do the food or restaurant justice. It was definitely a spectacular dinner.

I plan to be blogging more regularly because I have a lot to catch up on. My cooking class ends next week, and now it’s time to start a new chapter in my life.

So glad you’re back! We need to meet up soon! Tequila! ;)
I can completely relate to the feelings you had at your birthday. Growing up in Oklahoma, all of my friends were married with kids by 22 and at 25 I felt like I was so far from being “put together” but I knew that what I wanted would come along and here I am living out my dreams in a new city.
Your vacation looks amazing. I’ve never been to the West Coast. Looks gorgeous!
Oh, and I love like ALL of your dresses you have going on in this post. Adorable.

Happy (belated) 27th birthday Lauren! Don’t worry, you will figure it all out. I have felt that way many times in my life and it always just kind of figures itself out. Looks like an awesome trip :)
