If you happen to like Shiraz, than this wine is for you.
I tried the Yalumba Patchwork Shiraz about a week ago, and although very big and juicy, it is loaded with herbs, and spice.
This Shiraz and big and rich, but not as jammy is other Shiraz’s I’ve tasted. It’s nicely balanced with an herbal note on the end. Maybe a bit of eucalyptus, which is very common in Shiraz. I had this wine with pizza, and it went pretty well together. Although for this particular wine I would stick to beef and especially lamb!
“Dense black purpley red in color with an aroma exhibiting a mix of fresh briary almost blackcurrant tones, balanced with violets and dark plums, finishing with an earthy, savory complexity. The palate is full bodied demonstrating Barossa Valley hallmarks of richness, density and concentration. Silky fruit complexity is the key here with both red and dark jubey flavors. The palate finishes with fine, earthy tannins. Try with a rare rib eye steak.” -Cecile’s Wine Cellar Notes
