I’ve only been to San Francisco once before, and it’s my passion to explore new cities, so when I heard Annelies was conducting a walking tour of Nob Hill, North Beach, and Chinatown, I jumped at the chance to sign up. With all the eating that was happening last weekend, I needed some sort of exercise.
We woke up bright and early before the sun was up to climb the steep hills of San Fran.
An hour and half later we were back at the hotel, and getting ready for our break out sessions. But then it was time to experience something I had read on almost every blog about last years festival…The Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market and Ferry Building Marketplace. Sarah, Lauren, Gina, Allie, and I walked down to the water to experience one of the best farmers markets around.
The juiciest oranges, the fleshiest persimmons, the spiciest curry, and the sweetest honey. It was truly a food bloggers heaven. No joke.
I had this bite of pumpkin naan with paratha dip and jalapeno jam, and I couldn’t resist soaking in those glorious flavors for a minute. I literally had to stop in my tracks and just taste the excitement going on in my mouth.
If only the Farmer’s Market’s in DC lasted all year round.
Next stop…The Foodbuzz Tasting Pavilion. Another extremely successful eating event put on by Foodbuzz. This was our chance to taste all different foods and learn about some new products that are on the market.
Only a food blogger walks from one food event to another for an entire weekend. It was a bit intense.
Favorite bite? This warm savory mushroom soup with sweet foam on top. I don’t remember exactly what it was or where it was from, but I do remember it was spectacular.
Least favorite bite? The fish tacos. Although I absolutely love fish tacos, these were a little too fishy for me.
And then there was everything in between. The juiciest pears I’ve ever tasted from Frog Hollow Farms. Cookie bites, chocolate, toffee, wine, sausages, meats, salads, french fries, beer, and more wine.
Oh and those amazing cupcakes again! This time with flavors like horchata, cinnamon spice, banana nut, red velvet, and pumpkin (my favorite).
What a day so far…and this was only half of it.
We headed back to the hotel room to rest (and rest our stomachs) to get ready for the Gala dinner that was happening later. I remember saying to my friends “Do normal people think this is normal?” Going from one eating event to another and all while you are taking pictures of your food? Probably not…but to us…it was so very fantastic!
To be cont’d…
