Wine Review-La Slina Monferrato Bianco 2009

La Slina Monferrato Bianco 2009

I chose this wine as the August wine of the month because this is a very fun summer wine. It is slightly off dry and has a light effervescence. Crisp, refreshing, and very slammable. I love to bring this wine to girls night because you just can’t go wrong.

“La Slina Bianco is a joint venture between the Cichero brothers of Gavi’s La Slina and Mauro Fracchia of Monferrato’s Sulin estate. The friends start with La Slina’s Cortese – the grape of Gavi famous for its crisp acidity and exotic ginger, spice and almond notes. They blend in some of Mauro’s Chardonnay to add orchard fruits – apples and peaches – and extra body. Last, a dash of Müller-Thurgau adds intensity and complexity to the aromas and a bit more vibrant acidity.

The result is fresh and lemony with lithe green apple and orchard fruit, notes of fresh lime, and just a hint of ginger on the finish. It’s a bright, clean wine that shows just the very tiniest hint of spritz (right on the tip of your tongue) which makes it even more refreshing. It’s a stunningly good back porch/patio/party white that will both quench your thirst and delight your senses. And, there’s more than enough going on here to pair well with shellfish (especially if there’s lots of garlic!). Great value.”-Cecile’s Wine Cellar Notes

I love drinking white wine in the summer time. It’s so crisp and fresh and light!
