Exploring A Quaint Town-St. Michaels, Maryland

by Lauren on September 30, 2010

St. Michaels is a small little town on the eastern shore of Maryland. My parents recently moved there, and I absolutely love visiting. Not only because they’re my parents and I love to see them…

or because their house is gorgeous and has a beautiful view of the water…

but also because I love going into the town of St. Michaels and experiencing everything it has to offer.

Especially now as the seasons are changing, the town is decorated with adorable fall decorations that just make you feel a warm and welcome.

My mom and I took a stroll down the streets a few weekends ago, and it just made me so happy. They have a little bit of everything here.

Cute shops and Boutiques…

Churches…

Coffee Shops and Ice Creameries…

Old Fashion Candy Shops…

And Restaurants…

I’ve had the chance to visit one of the restaurants here in St. Michaels.
Ava’s Pizzeria and Wine Bar
is a delicious restaurant named after the owners daughter. The owner and head chef is actually a former student of Chris’ step dad, Chef Patrice, at La’Academie de Cuisine. We all visited the restaurant last year to see what it was all about as well as try some of the chef’s fabulous dishes. The food was all so incredible from the fresh brick oven pizza’s to the fabulous tender boneless beef short ribs. And they offer an extensive wine and beer list as well. I remember leaving feeling extremely satisfied and looking forward to the next time I could come back. However, the restaurant is always so busy and it’s hard to get in there with out an hour wait! Good for them, Bad for me. ;-)

St. Michaels even has it’s own winery and Microbrewery. I have not had the chance to visit either of these places yet, but I think Fall would the perfect time to check them out.

I did, however, attend the St. Michaels Food and Wine Festival last year to see Patrice’s cooking demonstration and was able to try some familiar and unfamiliar wines….and meet a certain Top Chef. ;-)

Oh and to take a lovely sunset boat cruise.

St. Michaels is right on the water and very close to another little town called Oxford that I would love to explore sometime. It is so much fun to walk around and see the sights and enjoy some gorgeous evening boat rides.

Relaxing, Quaint, and full of culture, this is a town I could definitely get used to. And good thing because my parents live here now. ;-)

I’m a Maryland girl, but I don’t think I’ve ever been here – so cute and beautiful :) I wish the weather was still this nice, hah!
