Some days are different than Others

by Lauren on June 17, 2010

There are some days where I am a actually happy I belong to the gym, and yesterday was one of those days. As I’ve mentioned before, I kind of have a love/hate relationship with the gym because it is something so new to me.

Yesterday started off a bit different than most days. After sleeping in for a bit, I woke up and made breakfast before working out.

Breakfast=Oats In a Jar

1/2C dry oats made with water, topped with 1/2 C blueberries piled in an almost empty Sunland Banana Peanut Butter Jar.

I couldn’t let any of that delicious Banana Peanut Butter go to waist. It is too delish!

As I was eating breakfast it started to rain, and I thought to myself…“Now it’s times like this when I am thankful to have a gym membership because there is NO excuse to not work out.”

However, my legs were still incredibly tight from my strength workout a couple of days before, and I thought it would be good to give them one more day off. So after letting my bfast digest, I convinced myself to do a stretching/upper body *home* workout. Yes, I convinced myself because I am not a huge fan of working out, but I love the feeling when I’m done. I’m one of those people.

First I did about 30 min of intense stretching on my luxurious Aurorae Yoga Mat followed by 30 minutes of an intense arm workout. It was so good that I was dripping sweat by the end. And that is the feeling I love. :-)

During my stretching session I broke out my Yoga Tune Up that I received Oh So Long ago to sample, and am just now getting to review.

You see-I received the Yoga Tune Up right before my ankle injury and I just never got around to using the therapy balls. Well now that my muscles are sore, I knew this was the perfect chance to try them out.

I’m still not sure if I’m using them exactly right, but all I know is they really helped to massage my muscles and loosen up the tension…and it felt GOOOOOD!

After my workout I was thirsty and hungry so I made myself a very spicy POWER juice.

Carrot, Celery, Apple, Spinach, and TWO HUGE KNOBS of GINGER

I wasn’t too hungry after that and knew I had a ton of errands to run so I brought a small snack/lunch with me to go.

Leftover grilled shrimp and avocado salad on Romain

It was light, filling, and perfect for on the go.

I had to run some errands and then met my mom at the farmers market near her house. It wasn’t much, but a few stands that mainly sold flowers.

It’s a new farmers market so maybe it will grow in time.

I can always count on having a decent dinner at my parents. They always incorporate all the food groups, and the food always seems to taste better than when I make it myself. Last night I had a piece of filet, steamed cauliflower, steamed green beans, sauteed organic swiss chard, and a small spoon of wild rice medley.

Sorry about the bad lighting-I was too impatient to fix it after seeing that juicy steak. I just wanted to dive in. And it was delicious.

Now-I am off to do the whole breakfast/workout/errand thing today and enjoy this gorgeous summer weather. Wish I were at the beach!!!!

Question-What is your favorite outdoor activity?

I love having a gym. It’s nice not to have to rely on the weather and always know that I have the option of using the machines.

Why are dinners at mom and dad’s always so good?!?! :)

I adore the gym! I miss my membership so much! The steak looks good, but not as good as the shrimp :) I am a seafood lover!!
