While I was out running my errands my dad and I had lunch at Wegmann’s.
Do you have one of these stores around you. OH MY GOSH! This store is like Whole Foods on crack. I was like a little kid in a candy shop. Unfortunately we didn’t have much time to get lunch so I had to quickly decide, but I made joke the whole time about coming back after we ran our errands so I could spend some time there looking around. Little did my dad know that I was serious. But there was no time…today was go go go. So this indecisive girl had to make a decision on her lunch in record time. I had to choose between Soup, Salad, Sandwich, pizza, Indian food, Chinese Foods, Pasta, you name it, they had it. I had my taste buds up for soup and a sandwich so that is exactly what I got. I chose a 1/2 of a European baguette, which had prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula, and tomato, and a small cup of tomato and orzo soup. I took the prosciutto off the sandwich (I know many people could consider this the best part), but I was in a no meat kinda of mood. The food was pretty good, but I was hoping it was a little better. However, it filled me up and kept me nourished through out the day.
Later my mom, dad and I ate at dinner at a sushi restaurant in Annapolis, Joss Cafe and Sushi, that is well known in the area.
We have heard great things about it so we decided to try it out. The place is very small and was absolutely packed. We had to wait about 45 minutes so I was incredibly hungry by the time we sat down. We had decided to sit at the Sushi Bar because it was another 30 min wait for a table after our 45 minute wait.
We were all starving, and our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so we ordered a lot and shared everything-just how I like to do it. I started off with a glass of wine while we were waiting, but shared a beer with my dad while we ate.
We started with the special hand roll which was two types of spicy tuna. I don’t know if it was because I was so hungry, but this was very easily by favorite dish of the night. This was my very first hand roll, and it tasted as good as it looks.
Next we shared a seaweed salad. These are a must when dining at a sushi restaurant. I love them!
For another appetizer (since my dad isn’t the biggest fan of sushi) we ordered a rock shrimp tempura with a spicy sauce. This was out of this world delicious and we just gobbled up every last bite.
I could have easily stopped there, but of course we had ordered 4 more sushi rolls. I can’t remember the exact names and what they had in them, but I know we ordered things like spicy tuna, shrimp, lobster, crab, and salmon. Everything was really tasty, but it definitely wasn’t the best sushi I have ever had.
There was a lot of hype about this restaurant, and I agree it was very good, but for some reason I was not 100% impressed by it. I was not blown away like I expected to be. I felt like the last sushi rolls were a little blah for my tastes and everything sort of tasted the same. I like when my sushi is out of this world, and this sushi just didn’t do it for me. People speak so highly of this place, and they definitely like it according to the wait, but I just didn’t see it. I’m not sure what it was. But overall I had a great night and was pleasantly stuffed by the time we left. My first three dishes were great, and I guess I should have just stopped there.
Once we got home I needed a little sweet so I had one of those famous Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Caramels with sea salt. DROOOOL. It was exactly what I love all wrapped up in a chocolate. The salty, the sweet, the dark chocolate. It was awesome.
Now it’s time to relax and enjoy the rest of my night. I’m hoping to get up early tomorrow to make it to LuLuLemon for yoga. I’ve been wanting to go for months, and I feel like tomorrow is the day. Hope you all had a great day! GOODNIGHT!
