Last Day

by Lauren on January 24, 2010

I was supposed to post this on Friday, but forgot to. So here is my Friday post:

I am so excited because today is Friday! Not only is it Friday, but I have been working 10 days straight since my co-workers have been in France, and I am ready for a break. Not to mention the whole crutches thing has not been a huge help…or any help for that matter. I have off Saturday and Sunday, but also Monday and Tuesday.

This morning I made myself a green monster that included:

  • 8 ox unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1 medium frozen banana
  • 1 packet Chocolate Nutiva Hemp Protein
  • handful steamed kale
  • 2 tbs The Bees Knees Peanut Butter (Peanut Butter & Co)

This smoothie was ok, but my magic bullet does not blend the kale up very well so it is kind of chunky. Look and see for yourself.

Last night Chris made us a nice dinner. Since I didn’t take any pictures myself, let me paint you a nice little picture. Pork chops with bbq sauce, whole wheat penne with marinara, and a lovely salad of spinach, corn, organic garbanzo beans and a delicious home-made vinaigrette. Chris doesn’t cook much because I’m always in the kitchen making new creations, but he does a decent job when he cooks by himself. It was a well rounded meal that tasted pretty good too. Luckily I have the leftovers for lunch to show you.

I topped the pork with some fat free Italian to jazz it up a bit.

It was quite a well balanced meal.

Later I had an orange and then a new snack. I received these Kellogg’s 100 calorie snack crisps. These are a new item that they sent out for me to review on the blog. I decided to try them when I was craving something sweet today.

Each package contains 2 thin bars that total 100 calories. The bars are a really nice consistency between crunchy and soft. And in the middle is just a thin layer of blueberry jam (or something like it). I enjoyed the first bar, but by the second it was overwhelmingly sweet to me. Of course I finished both of them because they were still really yummy. All in all they were a tasty low calorie snack when you are craving something sweet. But by no means did they fill me up. They almost made me want more. But maybe that’s just me. ;-)

Those look delish! Are they in stores yet? And I’m impressed with Chris’ cooking skills! Hope you had a good weekend. :)

How sweet that your sweetie cooked. It must be a nice treat to have a guy who knows his way around the kitchen (even a little bit) ;)
I have a Magic Bullet too. I haven’t tried kale smoothies, but it works great with spinach.
