Oats in the Morning

by Lauren on December 8, 2009

I promised I would start making my breakfasts more exciting, and I deliver. This morning I barely woke up with enough time to do anything. Luckily I squeezed in another kick butt morning routine -broke a little sweat-made a delicious bowl of oats, AND made it to work on time. Gotta love when that happens! I think it’s important to get some sort of exercise in everyday whether it be a lot or a little. Some days I just have no desire to do anything, and it takes all my energy to get my butt moving, but it is so so important to get that heart rate up everyday. My workouts have been less than stellar lately, and I realize this. Right now I am trying to stay off my ankle AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE as it seems to be getting better, but I don’t want to trigger anything. In the meantime I will continue doing little exercises as much as possible. Tomorrow I plan to do at least one hour of core and arm strengthening. Hold me to it!

First let me start this post with last night. After that awesome dinner I made, I went home and found a little prezzy in my stocking! Santa came early and left something small. THANKS SANTA!

Then I had my 1/2 of a Honeycrisp apple topped with cinnamon -naturally- and my big mug of hot tea like I told you I was going to have.

I don’t know if it was the tea or what, but I could NOT fall asleep last night, and I knew it would not be good when I was trying to wake up today. And I was right-7:30am came before I knew it, and I wasn’t ready for it. I quickly got my lunch together, threw in a morning routine, and made an awesome bowl of oats. My morning routine this morning included:

  • 2 sets 100 reps leg lifts each leg
  • 4 sets 20 reps kneeling push-ups
  • 2 sets 50 reps bicycle crunches
  • plank hold for 30 sec

My oats this morning were scrumptious! I had about 2/3 C oats made with water, 1/8 C slivered almonds, 1 Tbs unsweetened coconut, and about 1/2 C fresh organic blackberries.

MMM MMM! Quick, easy, and delicious!

I also tried a new coffee today. My parents went to the San Diego Food and Wine Festival, and brought me back some goodies including some samples of Nescafe coffee. When I went to France all we drank was the instant Nescafe coffee, and I LOVED it. I loved it then, and I loved it today.

I chose the vanilla flavor today, and just added a little stevia. No creamer even needed, it was so good! I’m glad I have many more samples to try. Breakfast was good, but for some reason it didn’t hold me over quite as well as yesterdays. HMM?!?!

Lunch was a simple soup and some red peppers on the side. This is half of a red bell pepper cut up to be exact.

I’ve been loving these Amy’s Organic Soups-I just wish more varieties came in the box I purchased at Costco. The one I had today was Amy’s Organic Lentil Soup.

I think the red peppers give the lunch some flare-don’t you? I love them because they are slightly sweet and add a nice crunch to your meal. Great for snacking! I figured I was getting enough carbs from the lentils, and I needed more veggies. That is all for now. I’m getting SO excited for tonight’s Season Finale of The Biggest Loser!!!!! I have followed this entire season, and can not wait for tonight.
