Despite my bad mood from my bummed ankle, I’m trying to stay positive. The rain has finally dried out, and the sun is shinning.
Another day I can’t take advantage of this great weather, but I know my ankle will get better soon. It just takes time. I know it is getting better, but its just not 100% and I don’t want to push it to make it worse. It’s ok to take a little time off.
Last night I did something big. I have been thinking about signing up for the Rock ‘N’ Roll San Diego Marathon for a few months now, but last night I finally made the big leap and OFFICIALLY SIGNED UP! Oh my goodness, I was shaking when I pressed the REGISTER button. I have been toying with the idea for a while, and after I ran my 1/2 marathons I realized that I could do a full marathon. But the idea was just an idea until I watched this weeks episode of The Biggest Loser when the contestants all completed a full marathon. I thought to myself ‘If they can do it, so can I’. And I signed up last night. I know millions of people run marathons, and they say anyone can do it, but this a BIG deal for me. I have always been a runner, but never did I ever think I could run 26.2 miles. It is a long time dream of mine to complete a marathon, and now that dream will become reality. Sometimes my mind takes over, and I convince myself that it is too long and there is no way I can do it. But I am not going to let that happen. I am going to train properly, and achieve this huge goal of mine. This is something that is on my bucket list, and I can’t wait to cross it off.
The San Diego Marathon is on June 6, 2010 in (obviously) San Diego, CA. The funny thing is my brother turns the dirty THIRTY on June 4th so it is the most PERFECT timing to go out there and celebrate his birthday and run my marathon all in the same weekend. I was a little bummed there weren’t more races that my family could participate in. A lot of times at marathons they offer 1/2 marathons or 10K’s or 5K’s, but this is just the marathon. So it will just be me, myself, and I, but of course my family will be there to support me. And of course I will be blogging through out my training. Speaking of training, I’ve been following Caitlin, Meghann, Megan, and Kelly through out their marathon training, and it makes me very nervous. Seeing them run 17, 18, 20 miles on any given day seems like such a hard thing to complete. But I know I can accomplish this. I’m not so much going to concentrate on my time, but my goal is to run the entire marathon. I just want to finish!
Moving on-
This morning I made peanut butter and jelly oats. I have realized that I have not eaten any fruit this week, and I seriously need to go grocery shopping for fruit. It seems to be the fastest thing to be eaten in my apt. I have meat, and veggies, and starches, but NO fruit! I was craving peanut butter oats so that is what I made. I used Peanut Butter & Co. Cinnamon Raison PB, and some cherry jelly that I brought back from my trip to Italy. I know-it was in August, but I haven’t used all the jellies yet, and they are SO good! This bowl of oats was made simply with Quaker Oats and water. Then I topped with 2 Tbs of the Peanut Butter, and 2 small jellies.
Mixed everything up
Had some coffee on the side. Oh my gosh-So good!
What’s that in the back ground you ask? Why-that’s my advent calendar with chocolate.
I love counting down the days until Christmas, and this advent calendar has a small piece of chocolate behind each door for everyday. It’s so much fun to open a door each day and find a chocolate. Too bad the chocolate is disgusting. BLAH!
Lunch today was a simple sammie. A ham sammie to be exact. I had ham and cheese on a Whole Grain Arnold Sandwich Thin. The ham is still leftover from Thanksgiving (my parents Thanksgiving), and the cheese is low fat, low sodium cheese I found at the Amish Market.
I stuffed a bunch of fresh steamed spinach in the middle for some veggies, and of course it had a shmear of honey mustard. You can’t have ham with out honey mustard. Well you can-but it just doesn’t taste the same.
It was an interesting combination, but it still worked. Back to my busy day at work. I think I’m in the mood for some hot chocolate today even though it feels like spring outside!

What a Great Blog! Just found it through Meg’s. I am so excited to hear about your running. I am also trying to get back into running -and have no idea what my goals are yet…but I totally get what you mean when you talk about ‘giving up’ and stuff. Sometimes, my mind just makes me stop..even if I’m okay physically…it’s a long process…love the jam in your oats!!! I adore nut butters – but jam as well – and feel like I’m the only one who eats the darn carbs
