Has it been that long?

by Lauren on December 13, 2009

I have been away from blogging for only a few days, but it feels like it has been an eternity. It was one of those times where I just needed a break. My life was a whirlwind, and I was so busy that I just didn’t have the time or energy to blog. The holidays are such a busy time of year. I’ve been doing all my Christmas shopping, and spending time with friends and family. Plus on top of that work is hopping as usual. I hardly took any food pictures the last few days, but here is a peak at what I’ve been up to.

My lunch after I left you all was an odd combination that worked extremely well. I had steamed spinach topped with ham, cranberry sauce, and fat-free feta cheese. I actually loved this combination, and might try it again soon. I love cranberry with the spinach and feta, and the ham was for some protein, but went well with the combination.

On the side I had the other half of my carnival squash that I baked a little longer in the oven to make fried. What a brilliant idea because they were sweet, tender on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Just perfect if you ask me.

Dinner with friends at one of my favorite restaurants in DC, Bodega. This restaurant serves authentic Spanish Tapas, and the food is incredible. We all ordered 2 dishes each and shared everything. An outstanding meal with friends, great food, and great Sangria. I prefer white over red sangria any day.

There has been a lot of Christmas shopping and trips to the mall. There has also been a trip to the foot doctor. I’ve been so fed up with my ankle hurting that I finally made an appointment with the foot and ankle doctor. He did a sonogram of my ankle and found a lot of fluid, but nothing really bad. I just have to wear an ankle brace and stay off of it for 3-4 weeks.

I will do what the doctors orders because I really want to get back into running. For now I will rest it though.

Chris and I also watched his sister last night, and we watched Julie and Julia and made Christmas cookies. Of course we made the easy store bought Nestle Christmas cookies, and they were awesome.

Julie and Julia was INCREDIBLE!!!!! This is now my new favorite movie, and I want a copy myself. I am also very interested in getting the Julia Child cookbook. I laughed, I cried, I just LOVED this movie. I felt so many connections to the characters, and I fell in love.

My Sunday has been spent at work, and I’m just trying to get through this day. Rainy and cold out, very busy at the store, and feeling a little tired. My lunch was more of a breakfast as I had eggs with ham, zucchini and salsa, and a Light Multigrain English Muffin on the side.

I took 2 egg whites and one egg and scrambled them up with a few pieces of leftover ham. On the side I had my grilled zucchini topped with peach/pineapple salsa. And my English muffin on the side. It’s been so long since I had an English muffin. I may start buying these more often, and they only have 100 calories. AWESOME!

In Other News-I sent out my Bloggie Secret Santa gift today. It should arrive in a few days, and I can’t wait for her/him to open it up! Are you participating in the Bloggie Secret Santa Gift Exchange?
That is it for now…Hope you all had a warm and cozy weekend!!

I watched Julie and Julia last night.. lol. I liked it, although, Ill admit Julie was a tad annoying (At times). I was at Borders today and Julia Childs cookbook was the main display in the front!!

Your eats look delish..and what a fun night with your friends! Have a good Sunday, dear :)

Sorry to hear about your ankle. You rest up so you’re ready for the Rock n’Roll!!

I loved Julie & Julia. If you haven’t read her book “My Life in France” its really good as well. Julia Child was a bit quirky and her personality really comes out in her memoir. :)

Sounds like you’ve had a busy weekend. Good luck finishing up your holiday shopping..

Love the idea of the cranberry sauce and feta over ham and spinach. Looks like something I would love!
