Coastal Flats and some toast

by Lauren on December 9, 2009

Yesterday finished off really well. I was so hungry for some reason and couldn’t seem to get full to save my life. I had one of my home made cranberry pumpkin bars with a very large banana. That was really yummy, but didn’t fill me up at all.

A little later I had some pretzels, a string cheese, and lots of water. I met Chris at the mall for some Christmas shopping and a very casual date. We ate at a new restaurant (to us) called Coastal Flats. The menu looked delicious and exactly what I was in the mood for. I started with one of their signature cocktail; Lucky Lounge Lemonade (I think that was the name of it?!?!). It was blackberry Stoli, muddled blackberries, and lemonade.

Refreshing and very good. Chris and I started with the blue crab and rock shrimp fritters with grilled corn salsa and lobster ginger butter. They were seriously good. The sweetness of the crab and shrimp fried perfectly with a spicy savory sauce. Oh man these were awesome.

For my meal I ordered the Mango Chicken and Spiced Pecans Salad.

It came with field greens, grapes, sun-dried cranberries, couscous, almonds, and mango chicken. The dressing on the side was a ginger vinaigrette.

Chris got a chicken and Havarti Sandwich with fries. I had a bite of his sandwich and fries, and they were really good.

My salad wasn’t the best salad that I’ve ever had, but it was ok. I think I would have liked it better if the couscous and chicken were warm. The restaurant was really nice, and the service was great. I would definitely go back another time. It also seems like a great place for cocktails with friends. We finished off our night with a little chocolate fro yo. I don’t know about where you live, but it was sleeting like crazy last night, and by the time we got home there was at least half an inch of ice on the ground.

This morning I had a simple breakfast. 2 pieces of Arnold Fiber and Flax Toast, 2 Tbs Creamy Almond Butter, one very large banana, and some hazelnut Nescafe Coffee.

On a Santa Plate of course

Have a GREAT day!!!!
