As I’m writing this post I’m thinkin’ I should have gotten up earlier. I am always running behind because I am a girl who LOVES her sleep. I know you are all wondering who won the Oikos giveaway and I will tell you….
At the end of this post
This morning I woke up and did a 6 mile run instead of yoga because I was a lazy butt last night and didn’t go to the group run. I know I’m lame. It had nothing to do with the group or the people, they were wonderful, but I was just downright tired after work yesterday. So I gave my body a break and did a 6 mile run today instead. Here are my stats:
- Distance: 6.14 miles
- Time: 52:35
- Average Pace: 8:34/mile
- Mile 1: 8:26
- Mile 2: 8:48
- Mile 3: 8:48
- Mile 4: 8:46
- Mile 5: 8:34
- Mile 6: 8:14
- Last .14 mile: 0:58 (6:52 pace)
My stats are about the same for each run now. I am pushing myself during the runs, but maybe I need to work on speed work a little more. Before I left I had a mini Clif Bar because I was feeling a little hungry. I’m really glad I did because I was feeling like I had low energy on this run and can imagine if I didn’t have the Clif Bar I would have no energy.
When I got back I immediately made myself a PB&J. No silly, not that kind, but a peanut butter and jelly Green Monster. When I used to work at The Bodyfactory in LA I would make the smoothies. The company strives on their health smoothies, and I was able to learn how to make all different flavors and combinations. Last night I was thinking about all the smoothies I could make, and I started remembering smoothie recipes from when I used to work there. I don’t know how I forgot about them or why I never thought to apply them to my own life. The clientèle at The Bodyfactory is mainly health nuts and celebrities. Their main smoothie is called “The Hulk” and is of course… Green. They started making these years ago,and they became hugely popular. I never was able to learn what exactly was in the protein powder (it was a secret), but I can imagine spirulina of some sort and protein. It was a mixture of things, and we would add fruit juice and frozen fruit to make it taste better. It was their most popular smoothie, and is actually featured in tons of gossip magazines and on entertainment shows such as In Touch, Us Weekly, E!, and Style, etc.
So this morning I remembered a recipe that I loved to make and eat, which was the PB & J. Although I did mine a little differently. This morning I added these ingredients:
- 8oz Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- 1 medium frozen banana
- 1 packet Chocolate Amazing Grass Greens Powder
- 1 Tbs Maca Powder
- 3/4 C blueberries
- 3 big handfuls of Fresh Kale
- 2 Tbs Almond Butter
Blended it all up and that is what I call a Green Monster!
(I love my shirt so much. I feel it is so fitting since I am a wine consultant and a runner) I also apologize about the red blotchy face. This is post run sans make-up.
This smoothie was soo tasty. I forgot how much I loved PB& J smoothies!

Two other things…this morning I wore my new Under Armor Compression Pants, and I have to say I LOOOOVE them. They kept me warm, but never made me feel overheated. My legs could still breathe in them, but they also stayed comfy and warm. I love the way they feel, and I felt so comfortable running in them this morning. Even better they have this little pocket in the back so I can keep my keys in a zipper pocket while running. This way they aren’t dangling on my shoe. I love these pants!
I also wore these new socks that I won at a store last week.
I thought I would give them a try today. They are not any ordinary sock. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of them because I through out the packaging a while ago, but I am head over heels in love with these socks. They are padded in all the right places and kept my feet warm, but not hot. They have a little lip in the back so that the shoes don’t rub against your ankles, but they go down in the front so it doesn’t look like you have high socks on.
I wish I could remember the name of these socks because I need some more! I got them at Charm City Run so if anyone over there knows what the name is PLEASE let me know!
Today is going to be a very busy day so I’ll see you all back here much later! Have a great Wednesday!
