Not your normal morning post

Ladies and Gentleman I would like to introduce to you…the cheese of all cheeses. The Creme de la Creme, the cream of the crop. This my friends is what I like to call….BURRATA!

Ever heard of it? It is a cheese you don’t normally see often, and right now it is in stock. Let me tell you, if you get the chance to try this cheese you MUST! I order all the cheese for my store, and when I got the email letting us know that Burrata was in stock I jumped at the chance to get my hands on some. As a gift for doing so well the last few weeks at work, my boss let us all take one home. THANK YOU!!!

Burrata is in the Mozzarella family and is simply a fresh Italian cheese made from Mozzarella and cream. It is silky on the outside and creamy on the inside, and to me has a salty and buttery taste to it. Burrata means buttered in Italian. In my humble opinion it is the most fabulous of all cheeses. There are many ways to serve this cheese, but last night I did a simple Caprese salad. I cut up some fresh vine ripened tomatoes, sliced the Burrata, and topped with fresh basil. A little drizzle of authentic Italian olive oil and this is what you get…a little taste of Heaven!

I mean-how good does this look? And it tasted even better than it looked. Last year when we got Burrata I tried it a different way. I sautéed mushrooms in olive oil and butter and poured it over the cheese. It was decadent, and maybe one of the best things I have ever tasted. This cheese is outstanding, and I can’t say it enough-if you haven’t tried it..go get it!

As sinful as it sounds and looks I checked out the nutrition facts for this cheese and was pleasantly surprised. Only 60 calories per ounce and 4 grams of fat. Not bad for a delectable tasting cheese. (Just don’t pour sautéed mushroom in olive oil and butter on top..LOL)

So that was my morning post. Hope you enjoyed it. I won’t be back for a while because I have quite a busy day getting ready for the wine dinner at Citronelle tonight. I can’t wait to share the recap with you later. Have a great Tuesday!
