I woke up this morning to …RAIN! Not again. I seriously can’t take anymore rain. Not a great day to start my POTM Challenge. So my morning run was canceled, and I made pumpkin pie pancakes instead. We have absolutely nothing in the apartment so we went to the grocery store to pick up a few necessities. Eggs, milk, apples, and a new soy coffee creamer later, we were making pumpkin pie pancakes in our cozy, dry, apartment.
I had made these before, and they were awesome, so I gave Kristin’s Pumpkin Pie Pancakes another whirl. I haven’t written down her recipe yet so I had the computer up to follow the recipe. I follow it almost exactly, but I don’t add any butter or margarine, and I double the recipe.

I make the batter and Chris makes the actual pancakes.

And they turned out great!

I also had half a banana on the side

I am trying out a new creamer for my coffee. Silk in French Vanilla. I used 2 Tbs, and it was just about perfect. No sweetener needed.

And instead of syrup I used XAgave. Just a drizzle on the top is all I needed. Here is some info about Xagave taken right from their site.
XAgave is a Premium Blend of Agave Nectar derived from organic Agave Salmiana (White Agave) and organic inulin from Agave Tequilana (Blue Agave). This combination results in the highest quality nectar with the best taste, best Cooking Qualities and the most Health Benefits of any nectar on the market.

I bought the Xagave after seeing it on Meghann’s blog, and I got the package that came with a cookbook. There are tons of great recipe’s that you can make with the Xagave instead of sugar. It is a wonderful cookbook to have.
This was such a fun November breakfast! Now I’m at work trying not to eat all the leftover Halloween candy. Why oh why can’t I just say NO!
I have not been a very good example of ‘Healthy Living’ today. Some days I just have bad food days, and today is one of those days. There is no rhyme or reason, but I just do. My goal is to limit these days more and more, and to not eat out of control on these days. Here is a bit of what I have had. This is a little embarrassing, but I am being as honest as possible on my blog.
Halloween Candy

1 Olive Crostini

3 Little Ragghi’s Flatbread Crackers

These were a sample brought to our store. They are simply flatbreads with olive oil and Parmesan, and are outstanding. Crispy, a little salty, and have a wonderful flavor and texture. Even the nutrition facts are not so bad. We are probably going to sell these in our store soon. And what is even better is a portion of the proceeds will go to the National Native American Family Camp. They are perfect to add to a gift basket, or just to have with some wine. Awesome stuff here. You can see more about them at www.ragghiscrackers.com.
I am starting to feel a little ill after all the candy. Why is it that it feels so good eating it, but so bad afterwords.
The rain was starting to pick up more and more so my after work run was looking less and less likely, but just recently the sun started to come through. There is a glimmer of hope that the rain will stop, and I can get my run in. I was considering just taking the day off from working out, but if the rain stops I am prepared to run after work.
In Other News- Last week I did a 7 Day Detox. I have a weird fascination with cleansing and detoxing the body of toxins. I’ve always wanted to go away for a weekend to a detox spa and have the entire experience. But that will be another day when I have more money. In the meantime I decided to try an over the counter Detox because I was feeling really sluggish, tired, and just plain gross. I’ve never done one of these before, but I used to work at The Bodyfactory in LA where we sold tons of this stuff. I did a lot of research and came across these; Renew Life Total Body Rapid Cleanse.

I found these to be the best brand, inexpensive, and quick. It was only $28, and I thought it could only help. For seven days I took 2 pills in the morning, 2 scoops of fiber through out the day, and 2 pills at night.
This cleansing system is supposed to get rid of a lot of the toxins in your liver and body to help you feel more refreshed, and ‘cleaner’. I followed it religiously for 1 week, and I do feel better, but I don’t know if it is all coincidence. Here are the results:
- I had more energy this week, but that could have been because I was eating better, and working out
- My skin seems brighter and clearer, but that could be because I washed my face every night and am using a new moisturizer
- I don’t feel as sluggish and tired as I normally do on a rainy Sunday, but that could be because I rested for the last two days, and have not had alcohol in a week (except for my 1 beer last night)
So honestly I have no clue if it worked. I don’t feel thinner, lighter, or ‘cleansed’, but I have noticed that I have more energy, and my body feels good. It could be all coincidental-who knows.
Please oh please rain go away. I need to get a workout in after all that candy!

I can totally feel you on the random bad eating days. I try to always think about whether or not I’m stressed or bored or whats going on but there are some days I just wake up wanting to snack my face off all day and I don’t know why! oh well :-/
