I'm 3 for 3

by Lauren on October 21, 2009

Today was a whirlwind. Work was insane, and then I had to return my new running shoes and come home, make dinner, and finally relax. It doesn’t sound like much, but all the driving was what really got to me. Google Maps took me on some crazy back roads from my work to the running store and it led me all over the place. Luckily I got there in time before they closed and was able to exchange my shoes. Remember when I bought these shoes? Well I only wore them a few times and everytime they really hurt my feet. I was having pains in my right foot, and I really believe it was from these shoes. So I exchanged them for these

Yes, the people at Georgetown Running Co. were so great and exchanged them with out any problems. They were also so wonderful to accommodate me 20 min before they closed to try on about 10 different pairs of shoes to make sure I found the right ones. I literally tried on about 10 different pairs. These felt the most comfortable by far. And like I said in this post I love that they have a treadmill for you to run on so you can really tell what it will be like running in them. I feel good about these shoes so I hope they are better than the last.

I was just thinking how interesting it is that I don’t even think about the color of my running shoes anymore. I used to only buy shoes based on the look and color, and now I go for comfort and performance. These are red, white, and blue. I’m not crazy about the color, but I’m crazy about the way they feel so that is all the matters. I also wear a lot of blue, so it works out perfectly. Plus they are the colors or America and France (Me and Chris) :-)

I also bought my first pair of REAL running pants. The weather is getting colder here, and I need nice running pants for those cold morning runs. These were expensive, but I really really wanted to invest in one good pair. I normally buy all my running clothes at Target, but I always get so suckered into the good stuff when I am in these running stores. All the jackets, shoes, pants, shorts, visors, running goos, and accessories. It gets me every time.

These feel amazing on though. Really comfortable and almost like I’m not even wearing pants. It’s a very cool feeling. While I was there trying on shoes a group was meeting up to do a night run, and I started talking to a few people about the runs. It seemed really interesting, and I’m looking for some running buddies in the area so I may start showing up for these group runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It could be fun!

When I got home all I had to do was stir-fry the veggies I cut up this morning. Chris had already cooked the chicken. It was such a huge help that this was already done. I love getting help in the kitchen. I couldn’t wait to eat some veggies since my diet lacked veggies today.

I used Sesame Oil for the veggies, and because this was my first time stir-frying (I know that is pretty sad right?) I used a little too much oil. It didn’t seem like much, but sesame oil really does go a long way. I also added a little low-sodium soy sauce to the veggies.

I made my plate with a little of each. It was so so good. I couldn’t be more pleased how easy this was, and how delicious it tasted. I absolutely love this yellow curry, but tonight it seemed really salty. I think I’m just getting used to things being seasoned well with out salt. So I added many more veggies to my plate (a few times) to balance out the salt in the curry.

I stuffed myself silly with veggies, and I’m excited because I have a perfect amount of leftovers for tomorrow.

Later my sweet tooth kicked in and I had about 1 C serving of this awesome ice cream. Chris also went out to get this for us. So sweet. I think this ice cream is my new love. It is so creamy and rich, but much lower in fat and calories than regular ice cream.

That is about it for tonight. Another great dinner in the bag. Tomorrow I am scheduled to run 6 miles, and I’m actually looking forward to it. We’re also having dinner at Chris’ family’s house so I don’t have to worry about dinner.

I’m looking forward to breaking in my new shoes and getting in a good work out in the morning. Chris-did you count all the shout outs tonight? Good night!

QUESTION: Do you pick running shoes for their color or performance?
