FINALLY

by Lauren on October 28, 2009

So now that my computer has restarted without me knowing I lost my entire post so I’m gonna try this again…

I was finally able to get up and run this morning. I woke up at 7am, and my body got up, but my eyes were still asleep. I felt like a zombie. I was walking around, but my eyes felt like they were glued shut. I looked outside and saw it wasn’t raining so I quickly did my morning routine because it looked like it was going to start raining at any minute. My morning routine was:

  • 2 sets 60 reps leg lifts
  • 3 sets 20 reps knelling push-ups

Today I wanted to accomplish 7 miles with speed intervals, and I was able to do just that. I have never done speed intervals before, and I thought it would be good for me. I have to say this was the hardest I have ever pushed myself running. I did 2 miles at regular pace, 1 mile fast, 1 mile regular pace, 1 mile fast, 1 mile regular pace, 1 mile fast, and the last .4 miles at regular pace to cool down. I wouldn’t normally put my stats for 7 miles, but I wanted to show you the differences in paces.

  • Distance: 7.4miles
  • Time: 1:03:23
  • Average Pace: 8:34/mile
  • Mile 1: 9:03
  • Mile 2: 9:16
  • Mile 3: 7:58
  • Mile 4: 9:15
  • Mile 5: 8:03 (had to stop 2 times for traffic)
  • Mile 6: 8:45
  • Mile 7: 7:33
  • Last .4 mile: 3:30

All three of my fast miles had some sort of hills in them. Whether it was a slow small incline or a fast steep incline. I always try to incorporate hills in my run. The last fast mile only had a small hill so that is probably why the time was so much faster. The temperature here has raised a bit from yesterday and it is much warmer. It was a nice temperature for my run, but I wore 3/4 pants, and around mile 5 I was wishing I had worn shorts.

I always stretch after my run. I usually do it because I know its good for me, but today I need it. When I was finished running my body felt stiff and sore. I knew I had pushed myself hard. I spent a while stretching my quads, hamstrings, back, and stomach. Those seemed to be the most tight.

Breakfast today was simple because of course I was running behind.
I did the warm cereal thing again, but with milk. I had a 1/2 C All Bran Flakes, 1/2 C Kashi Go Lean Crunch, 1/2 C Fat Free Milk, and 1 Tbs Peanut Butter. I microwaved until warm.

Honestly I don’t think this would have been good without the peanut butter. The All Bran gave it a weird taste, but the peanut butter covered it up.

I also enjoyed a kiwi on the side.

And my Cubano Roast coffee. (with a change…keep reading)

A great post run breakfast if you ask me.

Ok now for some bad news. I’ve been avoiding this for quite some time, but I think I need to do something about it. Every morning I have coffee, and every morning I use 2 Tbs of Coffee Mate Dairy Free creamer. I love the way it makes my coffee taste. I used to use all those flavored creamers, but knew how bad they were for me so I switched to milk, and that made it too watery, and then switched to the coffee mate dairy free creamer which made it just right. It was low in calories so I thought it would be ok. Plus I only use a little each day. But recently I have been reading such horrible things about hydrogenated oils, and I decided to look at the ingredients on my coffee creamer.

And Oh NO…partially hydrogenated oil is the SECOND ingredient. Not only that, but the ingredient list is way too long with way too many unknown ingredients. Not good at all. So I knew I needed to do something about this, and I have known this for a while. But today I decided to make a big step and stop using it all together.

Good bye Coffee Mate!

This morning I just used some fat free milk in my coffee. And to be honest it was actually pretty good. This Cubano Roast is so strong that the milk didn’t water it down. Maybe this CAN be a good thing.

It’s Official. I am officially signed up for Fitbloggin ‘10!!!! It’s great to hear other people in the MD/DC area will be attending Fitbloggin ‘10 too. I can’t wait to meet everyone!!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!
