I woke up like a zombie again today. My body was ready to go, but my eyes just wanted to stay shut. It is incredibly hard to get up when it is still dark out. I don’t know how other people do it? But thank goodness I pushed myself to get up. I started with another morning routine. I’m thinking I need to change this up soon. It’s becoming a bit monotonous.
- 2 sets 60 reps leg lifts each leg
- 3 sets 20 reps kneeling push-ups
When I first checked the weather this morning it seems pretty cold out. So I wore spandex pants and a t-shirt. BAD idea. You think I would have learned my lesson from previous runs? NOPE It was so warm while I was running that I got overheated. I felt slow, sluggish, sloppy, and hot. I knew I wanted to work on my speed today, but I pushed myself as much as I could, and that’s the best I could do.
At one point I even stopped and rolled up my pants as much as I could. That helped a little bit, but I still felt hot. On top of that by mile 4 I was started to feel a blister on the outside of my foot. I don’t know if it was the sock or the shoe, but I hope it goes away!!! Today I decided that every time I had to stop and run in place for traffic I would stop my Garmin. This way I get a more accurate read of my pace. When I got home I realized my numbers weren’t that bad for feeling so slow.
- Distance: 6.14 miles
- Time: 53:05
- Mile 1: 9:10
- Mile 2: 8:54
- Mile 3: 8:38
- Mile 4: 8:38
- Mile 5: 8:24
- Mile 6: 8:21
- Last .14 miles: 0:59
- Average Pace: 8:39/ mile
My times were not as bad as I thought they would be. I feel like temperature really makes a difference for my running. Especially when it is my body temperature and not the weather. When I feel like my clothes are suffocating me I can’t seem to run as fast as I want. So I guess I just need to remember this for next time.
Breakfast was awesome. I only get to use my spooky Halloween bowls for one more week so I thought it was only fitting to make some oatmeal.

In my oats I added 1/2 C water, 1/2 C fat free milk, and 2/3 C oats. I added lots of cinnamon to the mix. I topped my oats with 4 chopped dates, and 1 TBS natural peanut butter.

I loved the addition of dates to the oatmeal. A little chewy and sweet. Perfect. We ran out of skim milk today for my coffee so I used unsweetened Almond Milk and Truvia. It was surprisingly good!

Awesome filling spooky breakfast.
