Wow-It feels like I have been gone for months! I’m so glad to be back blogging. So much has happened since I left. I want to share everything with you so I will give you a very quick recap of the most important things…
First we had a huge family dinner at my grandparents house in Ocean City. My grandmother did ALL the cooking herself. We had about 15 people and as usual…WAY TOO MUCH FOOD! But boy was it good. The big news of the night was that my cousin, Melissa, is preggers! So exciting. She is the first in the family to get married and to get pregnant. Congrats Melissa!
I can’t believe my grandmother did all the cooking herself. We had roast beef, ham and pineapples, mixed veggies, green beans, mushrooms and onions, broccoli slaw, salad, bread, mashed potatoes, caprese salad, and pickles. I may have forgotten something because there was just so much! Of course I had to try a little of everything. And I just need to say the food was wonderful, but my grandmother makes THE BEST CRAB CAKES in the WORLD.

My mom bought 3 fun cakes for dessert from Desserts by Rita. We had three different flavors to choose from. Pineapple, lemon pie, and rum cake. I tried a small slice of each one, and they were all great. Very sweet, and a little rich, but perfect for just a few bites.

The next day was overcast and my family decided to go out to breakfast, which we never do, and hit the outlets for some great shopping. Of course I had to stop at my favorite little organic store before I left.

This is a small store in Ocean City that I enjoy because it has a lot of items that I have a hard time finding. The store is small, but they have a nice selection.

They also have a small produce section and a medicine, wine, and tea section.

I stocked up on protein powders, cacao nibs, organic chocolate, crackers, almond milk, and kale. Sometimes you can find things for a great price, but sometimes things can be a little expensive. You really have to shop around.

Later that day I whipped up some of my famous guacamole to share with the fam. This was definitely worth mentioning. It was so yummy! Each time I make it better and better. I did enjoy my guac with one last margarita of the summer. After Labor Day I don’t think I’ll be drinking too many margaritas.

The next important thing that has happened is Chris got nose surgery. This is why I have been MIA for the past week. I have been taking good care of him, and with a big surgery like this he has really needed all the help he can get. It has been like a full time job for me on top of working so I am exhausted, and this is why I haven’t been blogging. Things are gradually getting better and easier, and he is able to do more on his own, so I am able to do more of what I need to do which is great. He is hopeful he will be able to breath perfectly soon! It has not been the best week for running, so I have a LOT to make up this week.
Other than that, I have just been helping Chris, and working. It’s taken a toll on my body, but I am determined to bounce back and get in the best shape I can for these half marathons. I am getting more and more nervous as they are growing near. I have to do a 10 mile AND 11 mile run this week. I know I can do it though. One thing on my list to do this week is get some new iTunes songs. I noticed on Caitlin’s blog, and Jenna’s blog they showed readers what songs are on their playlist. I’m in the store for some new songs to pump me up, so I am willing to try some of these out.
Breakfast and Dinner yesterday was kind of plain, but lunch was a wonderful blog lunch. I didn’t really prepare a lunch like I normally do, and I was in the mood for a nice sandwich. I went over to the Safeway and got a turkey sammie on whole wheat bread. I added provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, and mustard. I toasted the sammie until it was perfection.

I also had some of these cool chips on the side.

There are only like 7 chips in the whole bag-a little stingy for 140 calories, and a little bland for my tastes. I guess I was expecting more. This awesome sammie made up for it though.

I enjoyed this gourmet lunch with one of my FAVORITE new drinks. Grapefruit LaCroix. This stuff is so good!

And yes-I take pictures on the sidewalk outside because the lighting is so bad in the store at work.
I am mentally preparing myself for my 10 mile run tomorrow. I need to hydrate myself properly today and make sure I’m getting all the necessary nutrients. I can really feel a difference on my runs when I don’t have the proper nutrients. Tomorrow I am making a trip to Fleet Feet to get some things for my longer runs. Thanks for be patient while I’ve been away. And expect lots of great blogs to come. The ideas are stirring!
