Tonight my family and I went out to dinner to a place called The Hobbit in Ocean City, MD.

They just re-did the restaurant and gave it a much more modern feel. I loved the feel of this place. Really modern, upscale, but also beachy.

We didn’t eat until much later at night so it seemed like the restaurant was “tired”. Some of the wine glasses were not available because they were not clean, our order got messed up a few times, and everything seemed a little sloppy. Besides all that the food was pretty good. The restaurant offers steak, seafood, chicken, and basically your standard beachy items.
We started of sharing a mixed greens salad topped with a goat cheese crostini, and a crab, avocado, and tomato salad. Both of these were superb. I completely forgot to take pictures! For my meal I got the crab cake. I was hungry enough that I could have eaten 2, but I knew we would have a lot of other food so I decided to get just one. This was originally served with a parmesan tomato and some fries.

We also got a side of broccoli so I switched the fries for some broccoli. A little healthier.

The crab cake was really delicious. All lump crab meat, no filler, and great flavor. I also tried 2 bites of beef from Chris. The food was excellent.
We decided to get a bottle of wine, and since most of the family got beef, we went with a red wine. A Merlot from Paso Robles. It was dark fruit, with a little baking spice, but still light, and soft. Not really the perfect pairing with a crab cake, but I was in the mood for a red tonight.

We finished the meal with some coffee.

Besides the iffy service, this restaurant was a good experience. Prices are a little high, but the food is worth it, and they have an amazing view of the sunset over the bay. I would come back again.
