9 miles-check

by Lauren on September 3, 2009

Well guys-I did it! I ran 9 miles this morning. It really has been a wonderful morning so far. I was able to get up early enough to do my daily morning routine, run 9 miles, have my coffee and breakfast while relaxing and watching some off the Today Show, AND make it to work early! I got to work in a record 23 minutes this morning (compared to the hour it took me yesterday thanks to traffic). What a great start to the day!

I started my morning with my daily morning routine again. I love doing this because it adds a little strength, and warms my body up for my workout.

  • 3 sets of 20 kneeling push-ups
  • 2 sets of 60 legs lifts/each leg
  • 1 set of 25 reverse crunched

Then I set out on my run. I was a little nervous to run 9 miles because I haven’t done this since high school, but I knew the worries were all in my head, and I could do this. The weather is also PERFECT for running. Seriously..PERFECT! Not too hot, not too cold, no humidity, sunny…just beautiful. I barely even sweated on my nine miles. (yes sweated is the proper word..it sounds weird though)

I brought these little moons in case I needed some energy on my run.

I’m not used to eating anything while I’m running, but I have never really run this far since cross country in high school. I started feeling a little sluggish around the 6th mile so I popped 3 of these little “moons” for some added energy. They were surprisingly good. A little too sticky, and made me a little thirsty, but they really helped me finish those last 3 miles strong. And I really enjoyed the pomegranate flavor. Plus they are loaded with Vitamin C! I’m not sure if it was the moons or all in my head, but whatever it was, it worked. I saved the other three moons for another run.

I felt so great running today. My knees started to bother me around the 7th mile, but I knew I was almost finished so I kept on trucking. Here are the stats:

  • Distance: 9.29miles
  • Time: 1:25:53
  • Pace: 9.11min/mile

NOT bad-I was so happy with my time!!!! I came home, got ready for work, and made this awesome breakfast.

I loved having the waffles the past few days so I decided to do it again, but change it up a little. Today, instead of Almond Butter, I chose Vanilla Chobani and some fruit.

I took peaches and strawberries, added a little agave and popped them in the microwave for 1 minute. I topped the waffles with the Chobani and the fruit.

Out..OF…This..WORLD!

I know this breakfast is high in calories, but it is low in fat, and very nutritious. I will just have to cut back in calories in other places today because this breakfast was so worth it.

And of course the coffee was perfect..AGAIN.

I’m really liking this Nicaraguan coffee. I haven’t given a shout out to my brother enough so here it is. THANK YOU DOUG FOR THIS UTTERLY AMAZING COFFEE. IT MIGHT BE SOME OF THE BEST I’VE HAD!!! My brother just took a surfing trip to Nicaragua, and brought me back this coffee. It has a tiny hint of cocoa. Really good!

One last thing-on a side note- I am so excited for Biggest Loser this season. It looks so good, and this show gives me a lot of motivation. It premieres on Tuesday September 15th on NBC!!! I’m almost as excited about that as I am about the new show Glee on FOX!!! Yes-I was part of the Glee club in high school. It brings me back to those days!!!!
