Running Success

by Lauren on August 28, 2009

This morning I WAY overslept. I’m not sure why because I went to bed at 10:30pm, but I just could not get up this morning. I was supposed to run 8 miles, and I was worried now that I wouldn’t have enough time. So I decided to set out for at least 6 or 7 miles. While I was running I felt so good that I just pushed it to 8. There was an overcast today and it was really humid, but there was also a nice cool breeze that kept me going. I couldn’t believe how great I felt. I completed 8.39 miles, and I felt like I could have kept running. Oh and I still made it to work on time. Life is GOOD. My goal for this week is complete. :-)

I used my new Garmin Forerunner 205 this morning. I had to get used to something being on my wrist, but it really was not has heavy as I thought. My other problem is that I constantly look at it, which makes the time go by so much slower. So I tried to relax and preoccupy myself while listening to my music. It worked!! 8 miles later I was done.

I decided to check my stats against Map My Run.com to see how accurate they were.

Here are the Garmin Stats:
*Time: 1:22:19
*Distance: 8.39 miles
*Pace:9:48 min/mile

Here are the Map My Run Stats:
*Time: 1:22:19
*Distance: 8:47 miles
*Pace:9:41min/mile

I think the Garmin is pretty accurate considering I can’t remember my exact route for Map My Run, and I may have put in a wrong turn or something. I did a lot of guesstimating. I am impressed!

I brought my breakfast to work because I really wasn’t hungry at home. I think I had a little too much bread last night and I was still full. At least it kept me fully nourished for my run!

I had a Stonyfield Blueberry yogurt with some Kashi Honey Sunshine cereal and 1 tbls hemp seed.

I opted for tea this morning instead of coffee. This particular one is Yogi Peach Detox. I love the Cinnamon in it. I also really like the quotes on the tea bags. Very inspirational.

Well I’m gonna go use that inspiration at work.
