Tonight Chris took me to dinner in Bethesda. He always lets me choose the place, and I love trying new restaurants, but very rarely am I impressed. Most of the time we leave very upset with the quality of the food, and the price of the check. So I chose Levante’s on Bethesda Row.

I’ve been to this restaurant many times, and always leave full and happy. I knew I could order something fairly healthy and still be satisfied. I love this restaurant for many reasons.
1. I Love the atmosphere. Cute wooden tables with olive oil carafes on each one, and just a quiet peaceful ambiance. Don’t forget the brick oven smell through out the entire place.
2. I Love their bread. I’m convinced they have the best home made bread on Earth (besides French bread of course). They make it fresh for each table.
3. The food is always up to par. I’ve never had a bad meal there.
4. The service is good..not great, but still good compared to many other restaurants.
5. It’s reasonably priced. I don’t have to blow a paycheck on one meal if you know what I mean.
I knew I was in the mood for the Cold Mezze Plate. I always get this when I go with my friend Kelly, and we just chat, drink wine, and share a cold mezze plate. This would be perfect for dinner tonight. I wanted to share it with Chris, but he was feeling something a little more “substantial”. He ended up getting a sandwich, but I still ordered the Mezze Plate.
We started out with some of the fresh warm bread.

I dipped mine in a little olive oil.

It is always hard for me to limit my bread intake here because it is so addicting, but I knew my meal was coming soon, and the Cold Mezze Plate is awesome with the bread.
Our food arrived, and everything looked so colorful. I couldn’t wait to dive in.

I could probably eat the entire plate, but that was just too much food so I made a smaller plate. And ate 2,… and maybe a few more bites off the big one.
AHH this stuff is so good!

It came with :
Hommos

Babaganoj

Feta Cheese

Shepherd Salad

Ezmesalad

And Tsatziki

I like to eat the different salads on pieces of bread, but I also love to combine the different flavors. They all mesh very well, which is one of my favorite things about this dish. Everything tastes fresh, perfectly seasoned, and healthy (even though I have no idea if it is or not) I think this has to be one of my favorite meal combinations of all time. But it has to be with this bread…it really just puts it a step above all other Mediterranean restaurants.
I think Chris liked his too!

Needless to say we loved our food, and were very happy after this meal-I even have a doggy bad to bring home. Unfortunately there was no room for dessert. Thank you Levante’s for always doing us right!
