The day we tried the Begali wines was a hot and humid day. His wines are big dark reds, and even though it was a hot and humid day the wines STILL tasted great.
Begali Valpolicella Ripasso 2007:

The Ripasso is an outstanding wine that everyone should know about. Made from 65% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, and 5% other grapes, it is ruby red in color, and has loads of juicy dark fruit. It is medium bodied and would be perfect with any type of grilled meats. I love that it is full bodied yet soft at the same time. I had it with some heavier cured meats and it was fantastic. Very smooth on the finish with a hint of baking spice. Just plain DELISH!
Begali Amarone Classico 2005:

I was worried to drink the Amarone on such a hot day outside, but you know what? It was still fantastic. This wine is made from drying the grapes first and then pressing them so the wine is much more concentrated and tends to be very big. It would be perfect for Napa Cab drinkers that want to broaden their horizon. It is full bodied, plush, robust, and a tiny bit earthy. I also tasted a little baking spice on the finish. Perfect with any kind of thick grilled meats (especially red meats).
Begali Monte Ca Bianca 2000:

Giordano brought out this special bottle from his library and I just fell right on the floor when I had a sip. It was one of the best wines I have ever tasted. Even being a 2000 vintage, this wine has layers and layers of complexity. It had juicy, dark fruit, some chocolate and baking spice, and was so velvety and smooth. This wine was just improving with time. So amazing.
